Oxfordshire Senior League Premier Division
Saturday 17th October 2026 2pm Kick Off.
Team: Bennington, Saunders (60m Jackson H), Robinson, Gunn, Smaldon, Shayler, Oliver, Olawuyi (70m Jesson), Ghrab (57m Gray), Wimble, Holloway.
The visitors started brightly with Adam Holloway and Oki Olawuyi putting the home defence under pressure. It was against the run of the game when in the 11th minute, the ball dropped on the edge of the Witney penalty area and the Kennington player fired home into the top corner of the goal with goalkeeper Tom Bennington given no chance. Billy Wimble on his full debut was working hard and forced a good save in the 16th minute. The teams were settling despite the hard playing surface, and the home side had a good chance in the 30th minute but scuffed the shot wide of the goal. Witney replied with efforts from Ryan Oliver and Alfie Saunders. In the 43rd minute the home side doubled their lead when they were awarded a penalty following a challenge from Will Shayler. Bennington saved the initial effort, but the ball spun away from his save and with the Witney players flatfooted the Kennington player netted easily. Bennington was called into action again, before the end of the first half, saving at full length to deny the home side a third goal. Half Time Kennington lead 2-0.
The second half was only 30 seconds old when Witney reduced the deficit. A break down the right, a superb ball from Oliver to Wimble and his cross was finished off by Holloway. Holloway had a good chance with a close-range header that was comfortably saved. Both teams were matching each other as a few robust challenges came flying in, from both sides. In the 68th minute Witney were awarded a penalty for a hand ball offence and Holloway converted, sending the keeper the wrong way. On the 80th minute mark Kennington had their best chance of the half following a rampaging run from their centre forward with his cross shot just drifting wide of the upright. Witney pushed back and a Wimble cross was just cut out before it reached Holloway. The game finished 2-2. Goalscorers for Kennington were Ben Rawlings and Oli Sweeney.
